Miss Earth Contestant Zanib Naveed Dies In Maryland At Age 32

Zanib Naveed, who was crowned Miss Pakistan World in 2012 and went on to compete in the 2012 Miss Earth pageant, died at the age of 32 over the weekend. According to Maryland State Police, Naveed was involved in a car accident that took place along a curve on Route 1 in Prince George's County. Zanib's Mercedes struck the curb and the car overturned, ejecting the beauty queen from the vehicle and tragically killing her. A preliminary investigation determined that alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Zanib was the only person in her car and it was the only vehicle involved.

Naveed graduated from Pace University in 2011. She went on to not only win the Miss Pakistan World pageant, but she later became the president of both the Miss and Mrs Pakistan USA competitions. In addition, according to her Facebook page, she was an activist and an entrepreneur.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help her family in the wake of her passing. The page describes Naveed as having a "smile that could light up a room, a powerful personality, captivating eyes, a voice that demanded attention and beauty like no other."

She leaves behind a distraught husband who, following her death, posted on Facebook that his "heart is shattered."
